Practitioner Schools

The program consists of three levels, as detailed below:

Level 1: LAUSD NextGen. This level will entail completing an instructional technology cohort, where the sites will determine their respective requirements and develop a plan for introducing new technology to enhance student learning and engagement.

Level 2: LAUSD Future Ready. This level will focus on using technology to equip students with the necessary skills for the future, facilitated by an Instructional Technology Facilitator.

Level 3: LAUSD Demonstration Site. This level will feature District Models that exhibit future-ready teaching and learning practices, serving as an example for other schools to follow.

Practitioner Schools 7.0: Empowered Learner
The purpose of the Practitioner Schools 7.0 Empowered Learner Program is to strategically and systematically ensure that Los Angeles Unified students are granted intentional exposure to leveraging digital resources and to developing and integrating foundational future ready practices within the K-12 classrooms. The goal is to create learning experiences that grant students opportunities to be interconnected and engage in practice of future ready skills, computer science education, digital citizenship, and dispositions on a daily basis.

Practitioner Schools 4.0: Global Collaborator
The Practitioner Schools 4.0 Program is designed to promote collaboration and learner agency and to challenge teachers to continuously learn and reflect upon their instructional practices. As participants of the program, school sites will use the ISTE Standards for Students to guide their work as they actively participate in the following:
- Collaborate in exploring local and global issues that impact schools, using collaborative technologies to find effective solutions and increase student achievement.
- Provide students with learning opportunities to practice Global Collaborator skills on a daily basis, thereby granting students the ability to build proficiency in 21st-century practices for success.
- Enhance and improve collaborative teaching and learning practices by strategically leveraging digital resources through 21st-century lesson design.

topPractitioner Schools 3.0: Innovative Designer
PS 3.0 promoted the use of a deliberate design process to solve an authentic problem of practice and to challenge teachers and instructional leaders to continuously learn and reflect upon their practices as they develop innovative solutions. As part of the PS 3.0 model, school sites will actively participate in the following processes:
- Collaborate in the creation of innovative solutions to an identified problem of practice that will involve a cycle of reflection-and-refinement with an emphasis on creating engaging and imaginative learning environments and increasing student achievement.
- Provide students with learning opportunities to practice an innovative mindset on a daily basis, thereby granting students the ability to build proficiency in 21st-century skills and practices for success.
- Enhance and improve teaching and learning practices by strategically leveraging digital resources through 21st-century lesson design.
- Provide opportunities for collaboration across Practitioner Schools, which include inquiry-group meetings centered on lesson study, action research, text-based discussions and other activities to convene in common dialogues about the intentional embedding of Innovative Designer methods in the core curriculum.
- Share PS 3.0 learnings with others in the District.
